Wykeham Primary School is very proud of its rich and diverse pupil population. The broad range of experiences brought to the school by pupils and their families is mirrored in our varied and extensive curriculum. Our pupils achieve well and enjoy their learning. They participate in a wide range of activities and are progressively taking ownership of their learning. Pupils told Ofsted inspectors that they “feel safe in the school and are cared for”. Parents also reported that their children enjoy school with one parent stating “My daughter looks forward to school and has gained a lot of confidence whilst at Wykeham”.
Ofsted inspectors, in their last inspection in January 2010, found that pupils at Wykeham “enjoy caring for and looking after each other and are particularly proud of their ‘Red Hat’ buddies at playtime. Pupils show their enjoyment of school through their good attendance. Their behaviour is consistently excellent, which underpins the school ethos. The pupils get on well together, show excellent attitudes to learning and work diligently in lessons. They have good understanding of what it means to lead a healthy lifestyle, reflecting the school awards, and they take advantage of the good sporting activities provided. The school has strong links and partnerships with parents and carers, outside agencies and the local community. Pupils thrive on the many opportunities they have to contribute to their local and wider community”.
